About Us

The Person Behind the Pixels

No agency, no account managers, no outsourced work – just me, building things properly.

I'm Jean-Pierre

I started BrandNerd Studio after being retrenched from the mining industry. Instead of looking for another job in an industry I didn’t feel connected to, I decided to build something of my own – using skills I’d studied for, in a field I actually cared about.

I hold Advanced Certificates in Web Design and UX Design from the University of Cape Town – but honestly, the most useful thing I’ve learned running this studio is that small business owners don’t need more jargon. They need someone who actually shows up, fixes what’s broken, and explains things in plain language.

A year later, I’ve built and maintained 18+ websites across industries – from legal firms and drilling companies to pet groomers and psychologists. Every project taught me something new, and I still treat every client’s site like it’s the only one I’m working on.

Why BrandNerd

Not Just Another Web Guy

I Stick Around

When Die Rebel Wynboetiek’s shipping logic kept breaking, I didn’t patch it once and dissapear – I refined it three times over several days until it worked exactly right, at no extra cost.

I Solve the Hard Stuff

Shockwave Economy’s payment system had a bug that stalled their launch for days. I tracked down the exact cause – a missing configuration link  – and got them fully live.

I Build Community, Not Just Websites

I also run the BrandNerd Business Network – a free community where small business owners connect, share, and support each other. Because growing a business shouldn’t feel like doing it alone.

How I Work

Every site is built on WordPress + Elementor, with proper security (WordFence), backups (UpdraftPlus), and SEO (Rank Math) set up from day one – not bolted on as an afterthought. I build locally first, test thoroughly, then migrate to live hosting once everything’s confirmed working.

Let's Build Something Together

Whether it’s a new website, a brand refresh or just an idea you’re not sure how to start – I’d love to hear about it.
